Creators of Sinister and Jennifer’s Body to Adapt Mouthwashing Horror Game
Several horror genre veterans have signed on to adapt the story of the Tulpar for the screen.
Sony is officially moving forward with a film adaptation of the psychological horror game Mouthwashing. Insider Daniel Richtman previously reported on the project, and game developers Wrong Organ have now confirmed the news:
“The rumors are true. […] The Tulpar’s journey continues. We hope it continues to hurt.”
Sony-owned studio Screen Gems is handling production. Karyn Kusama, known for Jennifer’s Body and recently directing the first two episodes of the Life is Strange series, will direct. Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, who previously collaborated with her on The Invitation and The Destroyer, will write the script. Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill, and Vince Vaughn from Crooked Highway, who worked on Sinister and The Black Phone, will produce.

The original Mouthwashing follows five crew members aboard the Tulpar, a space freighter hauling a shipment of mouthwash. Following a crash, the crew finds themselves cut off from help as supplies gradually dwindle and tensions among the survivors escalate.
It remains unknown how closely the film will follow the game’s plot. The cast, production start date, and premiere date have not yet been announced.
