Set seven years after the events of the original title, Control Resonant shifts the narrative focus to Dylan Faden. Remedy Entertainment has emphasized that while the project shares its roots with its predecessor, it is designed to stand as a fully independent experience.
Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen shared insights regarding the game’s direction:
Kasurinen noted that Dylan’s odyssey through the streets of Manhattan to purge the Hiss and other supernatural anomalies serves as a “thematic inversion of Jesse’s journey.” Unlike Jesse, who was an outsider entering the brutalist confines of the Oldest House, Dylan has spent his entire existence within those concrete walls, making the outside world a startling new reality for him.
The game marks a significant evolution for the studio, introducing an expansive open-world environment. Players will have the freedom to navigate Manhattan, encounter the city’s remaining inhabitants, and unravel deep-seated mysteries.
Remedy promises that Control Resonant will be their “most ambitious and grandest undertaking to date.”
