The western was released on current-generation platforms in December.
The classic western Red Dead Redemption (2010) has been brought to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch 2 with support for 4K resolution, 60 FPS and upgraded visuals. Owners of the PS4 and original Switch editions can update to the current-generation release, but some players on Microsoft’s consoles have encountered problems.
Gamers who previously upgraded the digital Xbox 360 edition to the Xbox One version are currently unable to further upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S release. By contrast, those who originally purchased the standalone Xbox One version can upgrade without issues.
Rockstar Games is aware of the issue and has pledged to address it.
We are aware of an issue preventing owners of the digital Red Dead Redemption edition for Xbox 360 from upgrading to the Xbox Series X|S version. We are working with Microsoft to resolve this. Thank you for your patience.
The refreshed release includes the base game alongside the Undead Nightmare expansion, in which John Marston confronts zombies and other supernatural adversaries.
