One year after the PS5 Pro launched, some console owners say they feel shortchanged by Sony
In 2024 Sony promised it would release swappable panels specifically designed for the revised console. Those panels never hit general retail — the sole exception being a limited “Ghost of Yotei” set issued in very small runs and only in selected regions.
Sony cautioned that standard PS5 panels aren’t compatible with the Pro model, but assured users an official Pro kit would arrive later. With no such offering available, owners have had to rely on third‑party accessories. That has caused problems: some third‑party panels fit poorly, are lower in quality, or are almost impossible to obtain due to limited stock.
Sony’s lack of updates has only intensified community frustration. Although the panels don’t affect PS5 Pro performance, players argue the company must keep its promise — especially given the wide range of official colors for the base PS5. For now, the most practical option for many is inexpensive replicas from AliExpress.
