Prime Video Announces Release Date for Reacher Spinoff Series Neagley

If you are bracing for the Reacher Season 4 finale on September 16, Prime Video keeps the momentum going. Releasing on that exact same day, a new spin-off delivers an eight-episode thriller set directly inside Lee Child’s universe.

Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) spends season 4 fighting a conspiracy across Philadelphia. Meanwhile, fan-favorite Frances Neagley (Maria Sten) has been absent, busy preparing her own solo operation. Frances Neagley is a fierce former Master Sergeant from the 110th MP Special Investigations Unit turned corporate PI. She has always been the smartest person in Jack’s orbit. Now, she steps out of his shadow as a suspicious death from her past pulls her into a lethal game.

You do not need prior knowledge of Reacher lore to watch the show. Neagley carries the franchise DNA, but it is built as a standalone thriller with no homework required.

What is Neagley about?

Neagley follows Frances Neagley, a former member of the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit and one of Jack Reacher’s closest allies. In the present day, she works as a private investigator in Chicago, putting the skills she developed alongside Reacher to good use in her own cases.

The series begins when Neagley learns of a close friend’s drug-related suicide on a pair of train tracks in Chicago. Channeling her inner Reacher, she refuses to accept the official ruling. She investigates the scene and immediately finds herself in the crosshairs of a lethal conspiracy.

The setup will feel familiar to Reacher fans and readers of Lee Child’s novels. It follows a capable investigator on the fringes of the law who ignores conventional rules when the facts do not add up. The major difference in this series is that Neagley is established in Chicago with her own career, relationships, and methods rather than wandering from town to town.

Maria Sten reprises the role she has played over the past three seasons. Alan Ritchson is confirmed to make an appearance as well, but this eight-episode run covers uncharted territory. Instead of adapting a specific Lee Child novel, Neagley tells an original story. Lee Child is co-writing a standalone Neagley novel titled Zero Margin, which drops in 2027 after the show airs. The creative team remains consistent with the main series. Reacher mastermind Nick Santora co-created the spin-off alongside Nicholas Wootton. Veteran Reacher director Sam Hill helmed the first two episodes, and Lee Child remains involved as an executive producer.

For readers of Child’s books, Neagley is a natural character for a spin-off. She is one of the few people Reacher trusts, and her presence in the novels has grown over the years.
