Preparing for the inZOI Modding Update
Hello everyone, and wishing you a fantastic Friday!
Once again, we are thrilled to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what the inZOI development team has been pouring their energy into this week.
For our upcoming October update, we are rolling out significant enhancements. We’ve focused on refining ZOI autonomy to address areas that fell short previously, making existing lots far more appealing, polishing the distinct appearances of unique NPCs, and introducing fresh hairstyles and outfits. Additionally, we are ironing out bugs affecting restaurants and social events. This patch will also bring a brand-new Build Mode feature allowing you to set specific access permissions for staff and patrons, alongside a mechanism to reorder action queues seamlessly. Furthermore, CAZ (Create-a-ZOI) is receiving upgrades to give you precise control over relationships and intimacy dynamics.
I am genuinely proud of how tirelessly the inZOI team is working. While there is always room for growth, step by step, we are laying the foundation to elevate the game to new heights.
It has been over four years since we embarked on the journey of developing inZOI, yet we know we haven’t yet delivered an experience that fully matches your grandest expectations. That precisely why—just as we promised early on—we have dedicated ourselves to cultivating a robust environment where players can effortlessly create and enjoy custom modifications.
Recently, we conducted a closed mod test with a select group of players, and our October update will heavily incorporate those valuable insights. As the modding community expands, we anticipate encountering new challenges and receiving a diverse wave of constructive feedback. Even so, we are expediting this update because we are genuinely eager to witness the incredible ingenuity you will bring to life.
Having spent many years as a game developer, I have always had a deep appreciation for mods. With recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, mod creation is becoming vastly more intuitive and accessible to everyone. Simulation games like inZOI possess boundless potential for a vibrant, player-driven modding ecosystem.
To make modding as approachable as possible, we’ve enabled UI creation using straightforward HTML. We’ve also integrated Lua scripting and MCP support, empowering you to leverage Large Language Model (LLM) tools to build mods with ease. You can dive into the comprehensive documentation right here: https://mod-docs.playinzoi.com/. We firmly believe these resources will democratize content creation, allowing enthusiasts without prior programming or game development backgrounds to bring their visions to life. Our team is fully committed to nurturing this creative ecosystem.
Looking further ahead, we intend to grant players access to professional-grade developer tools via the upcoming Mod Kit Editor. Today’s accompanying video showcases highlights from our recent closed mod playtest. We hope it inspires many of you to dive into crafting and experiencing custom inZOI content.
We hope you enjoy the footage! When the October modding update officially drops, we encourage you to explore the incredible mods crafted by the community—and perhaps even try your hand at making your own.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead, and we will catch up with you next week.

P.S. One of our team members whipped up an inZOI stock market mod today, and it turned out to be so outrageously fun that I simply had to share it with all of you!
