Predator: Planet of Death Becomes the Franchise’s Most Profitable Installment

The opening weekend box office for Predator: Planet of Death reached $80 million, making Dan Trachtenberg’s new film the most lucrative entry in the franchise. About $40 million came from the U.S. market and the other $40 million from international territories.

The film’s total budget was $105 million, so it recouped nearly all of its production costs in just one weekend of release.

Against Predator’s earnings, other new releases were noticeably eclipsed. Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love managed only $2.8 million, while the sports biopic Kristi, starring Sydney Sweeney, opened to $1.3 million.
