Pokémon Pokopia: Sableye’s Gem Hunt Event Guide

Pokémon Pokopia is currently hosting a special treasure-hunting and camping-themed event starring Sableye, aptly named “Sableye’s Gem Hunt.” Your goal is to assist Sableye by gathering red crystal fragments, which can be exchanged for exclusive camping gear and island decorations to spruce up your landscape.

The event is active from April 29 at 5 a.m. through May 14 at 4:59 a.m., tied to your Nintendo Switch’s internal system clock. This means you are free to manipulate your console’s time settings to access the event at your convenience.

Read on for a guide on how to kick off “Sableye’s Gem Hunt,” strategies for farming red crystal fragments, and a complete list of the available rewards.

How to start the ‘Sableye’s Gem Hunt’ event

Similar to other Pokopia events, you will receive an in-game notification stating that a Pokémon has become the “talk of the town.” Head over to the Pokémon Center to investigate. Please note that if you have not yet constructed a Pokémon Center, you will be unable to participate in this limited-time activity.

Once you arrive, you’ll spot Sableye wandering the area, which will now be adorned with glittering jewels. Sableye will be added to your event Pokédex, and they will request your help in tracking down red crystal fragments. Sableye acts as the event merchant, allowing you to trade these shards for time-sensitive rewards, following a similar structure to the previous Hoppip event.

How to farm red crystal fragments

To accumulate these fragments, travel to any of Drifloon’s Dream Islands. You will notice the landscape is dotted with red crystal clusters; simply use Rock Smash to shatter them and collect the fragments inside.

We found that these crystals are primarily tucked away inside the island’s caves rather than out in the open. Each crystal cluster provides four fragments. During our testing, we managed to secure 56 fragments in a single excursion, though your haul may fluctuate due to the randomized nature of the islands.

Sableye’s Gem Hunt rewards

You will need a total of 64 fragments to purchase one of every available item, though you’ll need to farm additional shards if you desire duplicates.

Several items, like the sleeping bag, camping cooking pot, and tent kit, serve functional purposes rather than just aesthetic ones. Note that the tent kit requires extra effort: you must supply 20 units each of twine, vine rope, and iron ingots, and assign a Build-specialized Pokémon, a Search-specialized Pokémon, and two additional buddies to complete the construction. The process takes one hour, and the finished tent can accommodate one Pokémon.

As with most Pokopia items, you can photograph your new gear and use the 3D printer to duplicate them for 2 rare Pokémetal each.

Sableye’s unique habitat

Since Sableye is the event’s star, there is one exclusive habitat to unlock: the treasure-hunting set.

To create this, place one adventure kit, one map and compass, and one treasure item in your island habitat. While Sableye will already be registered in your Pokédex, building this specific habitat ensures they have a dedicated spot to relax on your island after the event concludes.
