Ansha and Hoopa reveal Hyperspace Lumiose in Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC
Ansha and Hoopa guide players through the new Hyperspace Lumiose in the Mega Dimension DLC.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A arrived on October 16, and developer Game Freak has confirmed the long-awaited Mega Dimension expansion will launch on December 10 for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. The new trailer outlines a surreal new area called Hyperspace Lumiose, raises the effective level ceiling for some Pokémon beyond 100, and brings additional Mega-Evolved forms and content.

In Mega Dimension, Lumiose City begins to warp as spatial distortions rip through the skyline. According to Nintendo’s announcement, the donut shop owner Ansha—alongside the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa—introduces players to Hyperspace Lumiose, a distorted twin of the familiar city populated by rare and Mega-Evolved Pokémon. Certain Pokémon encountered there can exceed the traditional Level 100 cap by using so-called hyperspace levels.

Nintendo explains that Hoopa’s powers activate after it samples one of Ansha’s donuts, converting the distortions into portals leading to Hyperspace Lumiose. These portals are how trainers access the dimension; once inside, Ansha can craft new donut varieties using berries that confer unique effects specific to Hyperspace. Hyperspace Berries, for example, are essential when facing the region’s abnormally powerful Pokémon.

The expansion also reintroduces familiar faces as allies. Korrina—presented as a successor to a lineage of Mega Evolution specialists—joins the cast, and players will team up with Team MZ to investigate the anomalies plaguing Lumiose and uncover Hyperspace Lumiose’s secrets.

Exploration zones in Hyperspace Lumiose host unusual wild encounters and Mega-Evolved forms.

Among the new additions are several Mega-Evolved Pokémon, including Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur. Nintendo also announced an immediate Mystery Gift: players who claim a Diancite stone can unlock a side mission titled “Shine Bright like a Gemstone,” which allows them to pursue and capture Diancie. After receiving the Diancite via Mystery Gift, visit the Looker Bureau where Mimi the Espurr will take notice and trigger the special quest.

Players who already own the Mega Dimension DLC will find several new character outfits available in-game. Those who pre-order the expansion will receive exclusive bonus Poké Balls as a preorder incentive.
