Pierce the Veil Perform at Hot Topic Stores in New Performance Series

Hot Topic is launching Hot Topic Live, a music performance series filmed in a custom-built studio at its Hollywood flagship store. Pierce the Veil, the San Diego rock band with a longstanding relationship with the retailer, is the first act in the series.

The band’s exclusive performance will be available on Hot Topic’s YouTube channel, with additional clips rolling out across the brand’s social media pages.

The set takes its look from the retailer itself, with rows of band T-shirts as the backdrop instead of a traditional concert stage. The idea is to bring the energy of an intimate in-store performance to fans watching online and to give artists a space to play original music and share more about the stories behind it.

“We’re excited to kick things off as the first band to perform for Hot Topic Live,” Pierce the Veil frontman Vic Fuentes said in an exclusive statement to Billboard. “Our band has grown up with Hot Topic since the very beginning, so it’s really cool to see them create a new space for alternative artists like us to bring our songs to life for the fans.”

Fuentes added that the performance felt intimate and that the atmosphere in the studio was “fun and loose.” He also praised the production team for its work bringing the session to life.

Pierce the Veil emerged in the early 2000s and has built a following with a blend of post-hardcore and alternative rock. Its 2023 album, The Jaws of Life, debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200.

Hot Topic Live reflects the retailer’s aim to expand its role in music beyond selling shirts that fans wear to shows. The series will feature established and emerging artists across genres. Each session will center on performances of original songs, along with additional content designed for social media.

That content includes Hot Minute, a rapid-fire Q&A. My First Band Tee invites artists to reflect on their first band T-shirts. Behind the Tee Wall is a conversation about their music and what’s ahead.
