U2 to Perform Halftime Show at NFL’s First-Ever Thanksgiving Eve Football Game

Netflix announced Tuesday (Oct. 20) that U2 will headline the NFL’s first Thanksgiving Eve halftime show.

The game between the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 25. U2 will perform between halves, more than two decades after the Bono-led band played the Super Bowl XXXVI Halftime Show in 2002. Fans can watch live on Netflix.

“There’s a reason U2 has headlined stadiums for decades: They don’t just perform, they deliver iconic moments audiences remember forever,” Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled that they’ll bring that same magic to the NFL stage on Netflix. It’s going to be an unforgettable night for football fans and Netflix members worldwide.”

U2 formed in Dublin in 1976 and is marking its 50th anniversary this year. The band will release its 16th studio album, Carnaval de Luz, on Nov. 13. Three singles from the album are out so far: “Street of Dreams,” “Silencio” and “The Greatest Show on Earth.”

Netflix has played a major role in the NFL’s recent musical programming. The streamer broadcast the Christmas Day 2024 game and the Beyoncé Bowl halftime show. A year later, Snoop Dogg headlined his own Holiday Halftime Party at the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings game on Christmas.

U2 is one of the most successful touring acts of all time. The group pioneered the Las Vegas Sphere residency in 2023, which grossed $244.5 million and sold 663,000 tickets across 40 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore.
