Path of Exile 2 performance to increase by 50% — Jonathan Rogers on technical improvements
Some players may see FPS gains that exceed earlier estimates.
Recently, the game director of Path of Exile 2 spoke with FRVR and outlined the technical enhancements coming in version 0.4.0, Last of the Druids.
With this update, performance could improve even beyond what was advertised previously (promotional materials cited a 25% uplift):
We’ve implemented a wide range of technical improvements, and I genuinely hope players will notice the difference. A tremendous amount of work went into this — including efforts I participated in personally — to make version 0.4.0 far more performant.
The PoE 2 developer reported that, on his rig, the game now runs substantially better. He clarified that the earlier figure was conservative to account for the wide variety of player hardware:
On my machine performance rose by at least 50%. In the video I mentioned “25 percent” as a cautious baseline. From what I can tell, the uplift is around 50% or even higher.
In this patch, the Path of Exile 2 team also fixes severe frame-rate drops that occurred during late-stage gameplay.
