Patch 1.6.0f1 – Summer Solstice

Please note: While this update maintains compatibility with existing save files and legacy maps, it may impact certain custom map configurations.

Gameplay Enhancements

  • Optimized Pathfinding: Citizens no longer prioritize the most stocked shop regardless of distance. We have also implemented trip-specific pathfinding caps (work, school, shopping, leisure) to prevent erratic, long-distance travel. Should a route prove impossible, agents will now gracefully teleport off-map, resign from jobs, or wait at home.
  • Performance Tweaks: Households now perform “move home” evaluations less frequently, significantly reducing overhead in high-density cities.
  • Traffic & Logistics: Commuters and tourists are less likely to occupy highway shoulders. We have also refined U-turn costs to encourage better lane usage, adjusted commercial demand for better balance, and ensured buildings maintain road access after leveling up.
  • Supply Chains: Offices can now import goods from external connections when local supplies are exhausted.
  • Tools: Terraforming brush strength now scales dynamically with brush size.
  • Note: We are aware of a lingering issue where students may occasionally trek longer distances than intended.

Interface & Tools

  • Editor Additions: New terrain texture painting tools are available, featuring adjustable brushes and rotation (Shift + Mouse Wheel).
  • Enhanced Controls: Added a user-assignable hotkey to toggle contour lines.
  • UI Refinements: Cleaned up button aesthetics and added dedicated “Info” and “Customize” tabs to the building inspection panel.
  • Bug Fixes: Resolved issues with production statistic graphs, incorrect 60Hz benchmark reporting, and persistent “battery depleted” warnings on fully charged emergency stations.

Visual Overhaul

  • Terrain Engine: Significant improvements to terrain texturing, including sophisticated material blending, three-level texture tiling, and enhanced rock projection.
  • Biome Updates: Temperate maps feature fully reworked grass, dirt, and rock assets, plus four new paintable surface textures.
  • Atmospherics & Shadows: Improved shadow fidelity during sunrise and sunset, fixed clipping issues at camera angles, and added an option to disable snow visuals without impacting gameplay.
  • Detailing: Resolved shoreline alignment and added painted textures for several popular maps, including Archipelago Haven, River Delta, and Mountain Village.
  • Performance: Lower texture quality settings now offer improved VRAM management and GPU performance.

Modding & Technical

  • Editor Stability: Fixed save-loading errors caused by missing custom content and resolved issues where read-only prefabs were incorrectly saved as assets.
  • Paradox Mods: Creator pages now feature a “Playsets” tab for easier organization. We’ve added support for Bluesky and coff.ee links and resolved synchronization errors that occasionally hindered mod downloads.
  • Miscellaneous: Addressed localization bugs, updated game credits, and patched a JavaScript error affecting the Paradox Launcher.

If you encounter any technical difficulties, please report them directly to the Paradox Forums Bug Reports board.
