According to Variety, the sequel to the hit comedy The Devil Wears Prada raked in $32.5 million on its opening day in the U.S., successfully outpacing the original film’s $27.5 million debut in 2006.
Globally, the follow-up is tracking toward a $125 million opening weekend. While this falls short of Deadline’s earlier $180 million projections, it still represents a stronger performance than the original entry.
The star-studded cast features Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and Lady Gaga. The storyline focuses on the reunion between Runway magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly and her former assistant, Andy Sachs.
