Onimusha: Way of the Sword sold over one million copies in its first day, pushing total sales for the Onimusha series past 10 million units.

Capcom announced a strong launch for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which is the first new installment in the cult samurai franchise in more than 20 years. The game surpassed the milestone of one million copies sold within its first 24 hours on the market.

This success marks an important milestone for the franchise. Thanks to the new entry, cumulative worldwide sales for all Onimusha games have now exceeded 10 million copies.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword takes place in Kyoto during the Edo period. The main protagonist is the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Capcom combined classic sword fighting with modern graphics, focusing on spectacular combat, a rich story, and the landscapes of feudal Japan.

The success was also aided by an advertising campaign that allowed players to try out demo versions in advance.
