Onimusha Outperforms Resident Evil 2 and Street Fighter 6 on Steam

Onimusha: Way of the Sword has made a strong launch on Steam, peaking at 81,559 concurrent players—surpassing both Resident Evil 2 and Street Fighter 6.

This full-fledged new Onimusha game arrived 20 years after the previous installment, which was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2006. Multiple console generations have passed since then, during which Capcom released numerous Resident Evil games.

Despite fan concerns, the return of the series proved successful. Onimusha: Way of the Sword trails only Devil May Cry 5 in peak player count, which reached 88,894 players.

For a series that many remembered from the PlayStation 2 era, the result is particularly strong. For comparison:
