One Piece Is Officially Coming to Fortnite

Only a week remains until Fortnite launches its next mini-season. The few teasers released so far hinted at an anime-meets-pirates theme built around treasure hunting, and little else. Epic Games has now lifted the veil, and the reveal is the one fans were hoping for.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 wraps up on Nov. 1. Servers will go down for maintenance ahead of the mini-season, which is expected to run for roughly a month before a new chapter begins. Over the last few days, Epic Games used social media to build anticipation for an announcement on Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. ET. Rumors had been pointing to a major One Piece crossover. It ranks among the most requested Fortnite collaborations, so fans would likely have been let down if a pirate-themed season arrived without at least a few skins from the series.

Several hours before the reveal, Fortnite posted a brief teaser announcing the season’s name: Treasure Hunters. An image in the in-game news feed added more detail by displaying a collection of pirate crew emblems, including Peely, A$AP Rocky, Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto, and Lil Uzi Vert. Players had little time to work out who owned the remaining logos before the main announcement landed: One Piece is officially coming to Fortnite next season.

One Piece confirmed for next Fortnite season

The teaser shows the Going Merry, the Straw Hat Pirates’ first ship, drifting out of the fog. It confirms the long-awaited news and shows that Fortnite is partnering with the One Piece anime rather than the Netflix adaptation, since the figurehead on the ship differs slightly from the one in the live-action show. That was the likely outcome, given the anime-style characters that appeared in earlier teasers.

Fans can finally relax, because the collaboration they have wanted for years is almost here. Fortnite Treasure Hunters launches on Sunday, Nov. 1, once downtime ends. Players have a few days left to finish the current Battle Pass and get ready for the new season.
