Hockey roguelike with referee bribes and special abilities gets full release on Steam and consoles after 3 years
The developers of Tape to Tape have improved the AI hockey players and updated the game’s graphics and interface in the full release.
Studio Excellent Rectangle recently announced the release of the full version of Tape to Tape. The “roguelike hockey” game launched in early access in May 2023.
Players take control of a team of hockey players and try to lead them to victory. It is not a realistic sports simulator, and the developers have prepared several surprises:
Your opponents aren’t interested in playing ordinary hockey. Battle crooked referees, stinky princesses, and the most treacherous opponents of all, golfers. Recruit unique players, manage your bench, look for synergies between them, pick new abilities, bribe referees, visit the Blade Master for upgrades, and do plenty more.
Excellent Rectangle released the launch trailer for Tape to Tape 1.0:
The full version features a reworked campaign. Players assemble a team and fight a variety of opponents “on the road to saving hockey.” Completing challenges unlocks new players, bonuses, relics, and other content. The developers also improved the AI, so opponents now attack and defend better. They upgraded the graphics and redesigned the user interface and the goalies, who now move better and guard the net more effectively.

Tape to Tape has a page on Steam, where players have given it “Very Positive” reviews, with a rating of 92 after almost 4,000 reviews. The game is also available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
