Oblivion Remastered on Switch 2 Compared to Steam Deck
Early testing of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on the Switch 2 shows decent results, demonstrating that DLSS delivers a sharper image than the Steam Deck and even the Xbox Series S despite low-to-medium settings and an unstable 30 frames per second.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has launched on the Switch 2, and early tests reveal unexpected results. Despite performance issues on more powerful hardware, the game runs better than expected on Nintendo’s console.
Developers had to make compromises. The settings are lower than on older consoles, but the image quality surpasses minimum PC settings. DLSS provides an unexpectedly sharp image that even outperforms the Xbox Series S in this regard.
The game targets 30 frames per second. The frame rate cannot be called completely stable, with drops becoming most noticeable while exploring open areas.
Compared to the Steam Deck, Nintendo’s console uses settings ranging roughly from low to medium. Valve’s device lowers graphics further and uses FSR in Performance mode. Thanks to DLSS, the Switch 2 wins noticeably in image clarity.
This is not the best version in terms of graphics or performance, but optimization for a single configuration has achieved a good result.
