NPC Eyes Replaced in Helldivers 2 to Optimize Game — Developers Fixed Hundreds of Bugs and Improved Performance

Community concerns about the game’s technical condition have been heard.

Arrowhead Game Studios has released a technical patch for Helldivers 2 that includes numerous balance adjustments. The update also fixes a variety of bugs and crashes and brings several optimization improvements.

The developers said they have “fundamentally changed” their update strategy — prioritizing the most pressing issues reported by players. The team is now placing greater emphasis on stability and balance, and on fixes that most significantly affect your gameplay experience.

Some of the improvements and changes:

· Improved handling of body physics in damage calculations.

· Optimized automaton modules and NPC eye effects by replacing particle effects with shaders.

· Refined AI behavior through analysis and removal of redundant code.

· Reduced stuttering during the mission-join sequence on hive worlds.

· Improved audio I/O performance.

· Boosted performance by optimizing character level-of-detail settings.

· Optimized resource distribution for certain planet types.

· Improved handling of scattered objects, such as grass, across various planet types.

· Optimized resource placement in hive worlds and Terminoid caves.

· Refined setup and geometry of resources used in hive worlds and Terminoid caves.

· Optimized status-effect physics and the particle system while preserving visual feedback and quality.

· Improved visual effects for automaton explosions.

· Applied various optimizations to the fire system, including particle and lighting improvements.

· Enhanced performance by optimizing the rendering of multiple shaders.
