Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II Gets Unreal Engine 5 Fan Remake
A fan-made Unreal Engine 5 remake of Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 has received update 1.03. The project is available as a free download with improved graphics, new modes, and additional levels.
Created by an enthusiast known as Ruppertle, the remake brings the classic Star Wars adventure to Epic Games’ engine. Ruppertle released the first beta version in November 2025.
The latest version includes four levels from the original game, five Survival maps, and a Sandbox mode. It also adds a 3D model viewer, a separate test level, and numerous secrets.
The remake is available to download for free through the project’s Patreon page. Ruppertle also released a new trailer comparing the original game with the remake, showing the graphical changes and the engine’s capabilities.
The project shows how Unreal Engine 5 can bring new life to a classic. It is a fan-made project, however, rather than an official return of the series from Lucasfilm or Electronic Arts.
