Not Worth the Money: Metacritic Names the Ten Worst Games of 2025
Metacritic has published its list of the worst games of 2025, spotlighting releases that left players underwhelmed. While the year produced several standout successes — including Hades 2, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Split Fiction — it also brought a number of notable failures.
The biggest disappointment was MindsEye — the debut from Build a Rocket Boy, led by Leslie Benzies, one of the creators behind the GTA franchise. The title earned just a 37 score, hampered by critical bugs, nonfunctional mechanics, and widespread technical issues. The problems were severe enough that PlayStation began issuing refunds to affected players — a rare response comparable to the backlash after Cyberpunk 2077’s launch.
Second place went to Tamagotchi Plaza (43) on the Switch 2, published by Bandai Namco. Reviewers dismissed it as a tedious collection of repetitive minigames that even nostalgia couldn’t redeem.
The ten worst releases:
- MindsEye (PC) – 37
- Tamagotchi Plaza (Switch 2) – 43
- Ambulance Life: A Pandemic Simulator (PS5) – 44
- Scar-Lead Salvation (PS5) – 44
- Captain Blood (PC) – 50
- Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos (PS5) – 51
- Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact – 53
- Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection (PS5) – 53
- Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour (Switch 2) – 54
- Fast & Furious: Arcade Edition (PS5) – 55
