Nordic Horizons extends the Euro Truck Simulator 2 road network through northern Scandinavia, including the lake regions of Finland. SCS Software presented this part of the map on 18 March 2025, while the expansion was still in development. The studio released Nordic Horizons on 27 November 2025.

Roads around Lake Inari

Lake Inari anchors the northern Finnish scenery. Finland’s official outdoor service records an area of about 1,084 square kilometres, more than 90 metres at its deepest point and 3,318 islands. Inari is Finland’s third-largest lake. Ice begins to cover it in November or December and may remain until June.

The March screenshots show conifer forest opening onto water, low rock and clusters of islands. Lake Inari remains visible from several stretches of road and across multiple viewpoints.

Routes through Finnish Lakeland

The map continues south into Finnish Lakeland, Europe’s largest lake district according to Visit Finland. Jyväskylä, Kuopio and Mikkeli were the three cities named in SCS Software’s original article. Roads between them pass lakes, narrow channels and forest before returning to urban junctions and delivery areas.

Lake Saimaa is the largest lake in Finland and covers about 4,400 square kilometres. Finland’s national information service lists it as Europe’s fourth-largest natural freshwater lake. Across the country, roughly 188,000 lakes cover about a tenth of the land, while trees cover around 75 percent. Those proportions explain why water and forest recur throughout the Finnish section of the expansion.
