With both the Alien and Predator universes expanding, speculation about a crossover has become increasingly frequent.
Noah Hawley, the creator of the series “Alien: Earth,” addressed rumors about a possible crossover with Predator. On the SmartLess podcast he explained that he does not intend to link his show to the other franchise, while acknowledging the strong performance of films and spin-offs that explore the Predator storyline.
“No, I don’t think that will happen in the series. Dan Trachtenberg, who directed ‘Prey’ and ‘Planet of Death,’ is handling that line very well. He has his own vision, and we aren’t coordinating our projects. It’s not part of my plan.”
In short, despite obvious overlaps in setting — such as the appearance of Weyland‑Yutani synthetics in “Planet of Death” — Hawley does not intend to merge the two franchises. He said he keeps in touch with Dan Trachtenberg and Fede Álvarez to prevent repeating narrative beats, and suggested that future films should take the series’ depiction of humanity into account, since his show functions as a kind of prequel to the theatrical entries.
Earlier, Dan Trachtenberg commented on the prospect of Alien vs. Predator 3, saying he wouldn’t dismiss the idea but emphasizing that such a crossover would need time and organic growth from both franchises, so it shouldn’t be rushed.
FX has already renewed “Alien: Earth” for a second season, though the premiere date and further details have not yet been revealed.
