Nintendo Won’t Raise Switch 2 Price Despite Rising Component Costs

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that, for now, only external factors — such as tariffs — are expected to influence the price of the Nintendo Switch 2.

While Sony and Microsoft have already raised console prices in the U.S. in response to import tariffs, Nintendo has no immediate plans to follow suit. The company intends to preserve its current hardware margins, so any price changes would be triggered only by significant external developments, like adjustments to tariff policies.

Furukawa added that if material costs increase, there are opportunities to offset those expenses through economies of scale. Nintendo does not anticipate that the recent uptick in costs will substantially erode the Switch 2’s profitability.

On the sales front, the bulk of purchasers so far have been owners of the original Switch, but Nintendo is also working to draw in new players via game releases and other initiatives. Sales of the Switch 2 among early and late adopters of the original console are roughly balanced.
