Ninjala 2 Drops PvP and Gacha for an Open World

Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet for Nintendo Switch 2 drops PvP in favor of an open world, PvE cooperative gameplay, and a traditional sales model.

The sequel to Ninjala features notable changes compared to the original game. GungHo Online Entertainment decided to drop online PvP and build a cooperative PvE open-world game after listening to community feedback. The first Ninjala was released in 2020 and regularly received new modes, paired play, soccer, lobbies, and fishing. The game universe also expanded in parallel, including through an anime series.

According to Producer Motoki Kaneda, player surveys showed that a portion of the audience wanted to explore the world at a more relaxed pace, playing alone or with friends. This feedback pushed the developers toward PvE.

At the same time, ninjas, Ninja-Gum, and dynamic movement will remain. The open world allows players to run along walls and move freely. Ninjala 2 will not be free-to-play and will not feature gacha mechanics, requiring only a single purchase for access to all content.

The game launches in the spring of 2027, and the cooperative mode supports up to four players.
