Actor Nicholas Hoult has reportedly stepped away from the role of Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series, according to industry reports.

The decision was prompted by scheduling conflicts. Taking over the mantle of the flamboyant Lockhart is Game of Thrones star Kit Harington. Production for the second season is slated to begin this autumn.

These upcoming episodes will adapt the events of The Chamber of Secrets. In the 2002 film adaptation, the character was memorably portrayed by Kenneth Branagh. The inaugural season of the Harry Potter series is scheduled to premiere on HBO on December 25.

In the meantime, Hoult is set to appear in the action-thriller How to Rob a Bank before the year concludes.
