New Trailer Released for The Apothecary Diaries Anime Film
Maomao and Lihuku must figure out why a woman’s body did not decompose even five years after her death.
The creators of the anime film The Apothecary Diaries: Treasure of the Late Consort have released a character trailer focused on Maomao, Lihuku, and their companions. This is the first of four videos that will be released daily from October 11 to October 14.
According to the plot, the emperor tasks Lihuku with fulfilling the final wish of a concubine who died five years ago by transporting her remains back to her homeland. However, the woman’s body has remained completely unchanged over the years, looking as though she is still alive. To solve this mystery, Lihuku and Maomao travel to the southern province of Binan, where they encounter pirates searching for a treasure hidden by their late leader. On the day of the concubine’s funeral, an incident occurs that triggers a chain of unforeseen events.
Light novel author Natsu Hyuuga wrote the original story for the feature film. TOHO Animation STUDIO is handling production, with Norihiro Naganuma serving as director. The Japanese premiere is scheduled for December 11, 2026. Crunchyroll will handle international distribution, but release dates outside of Japan have not yet been announced.
