New Street Fighter Trailer Highlights Ryu, Ken, and Guile

The upcoming Street Fighter movie continues to draw attention with each new trailer. Paramount Pictures and Legendary released a new look at the film, highlighting its central emotional hook in the strained friendship between Ryu and Ken.

Ryu (Andrew Koji) hesitantly enters the World Warriors Tournament after Chun-Li (Callina Liang) informs him that his old friend Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) has joined the dangerous competition. Ken resents his training partner and seems determined to escape his shadow. The trailer includes homages to the games, such as E. Honda doing his headbutt slam, Ryu using a Tatsumaki spin-kick, and Chun-Li performing Lightning Legs. Ken and Ryu execute their fist bump from Street Fighter 3, and David Dastmalchian appears as M. Bison. Another moment features Guile (Cody Rhodes) yelling at Dan after receiving a slash to the face.

Legendary also posted a playable version of the trailer where viewers perform quick-time event prompts on an arcade cabinet. Many inputs match the games, including a quarter-circle forward motion timed with Ryu launching a Hadouken.

Has there ever been a Street Fighter movie before?

Several Street Fighter films exist from the past. Universal Pictures released a live-action Street Fighter movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme in 1994. While panned at the time, Raul Julia earned praise for his performance as M. Bison. After Chun-Li recounts the day Bison killed her father, he responds that he does not remember and delivers the iconic line, “For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.” Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie also debuted in 1994 to a more positive reception.

Audiences will see whether the upcoming Street Fighter film can succeed in bringing the world of fighting games to the screen when it hits theaters on Oct. 16, 2026.
