New Rumors Compare PS6 Performance to RTX 5080 and RTX 5090

The PS6 is rumored to feature a custom AMD GPU based on the RDNA 5 architecture with 54 CUs, capable of reaching 68 to 80 teraflops in peak computations thanks to Dual Issue technology.

According to Gamegpu, the PS6 graphics processor will reportedly be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process, operate at frequencies up to 3.6 GHz, and use a 160-bit GDDR7 bus with speeds up to 32 Gbps. The chip’s TDP is rumored to be 160W.

In traditional rasterization, the GPU is expected to deliver around 34 to 40 teraflops. At the same time, thanks to RDNA 5, a single CU could be 15% to 20% more productive than its counterpart in the RX 9070 XT.

The use of Dual Issue looks much more interesting. Theoretically, peak FP32 performance could rise to 68 to 80 teraflops. However, this does not mean 80 teraflops of classical performance, as the baseline estimate remains at 34 to 40 teraflops.

The PS6 is also rumored to feature PSSR 3. Combined with RDNA 5, the technology is expected to improve performance in games with ray tracing and path tracing. The Gamegpu editorial team even suggests an advantage of up to 70% to 100% over the RX 9070 XT in full ray tracing. All of these calculations should still be taken with skepticism.
