New Naughty Dog Game to Culminate 40-Year Career — “Intergalactic” Will Rewrite the Studio’s History
For forty years Naughty Dog has produced distinctive games that often become major hits. The studio continues its anniversary celebrations and says the next project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, will help solidify the developers’ legacy.
Naughty Dog marked its 40th year in 2024, but celebrations were deferred to the following year because the team was occupied with a new title. The studio published a video reflecting on its origins — back in 1984, before PlayStation existed and before the team became part of Sony. Employees note that each game was created to fill gaps in the market, realize ideas that had not been attempted before, and expand the limits of what’s possible.
The developers acknowledge that there have been several such moments in the studio’s history; although the games differ, they share common traits. Many consider The Last of Us to be the culmination of Naughty Dog’s creative approach.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet — a new game for PS5 — will, according to the developers, introduce an unexplored world with fresh opportunities while preserving the studio’s hallmark strengths: high-quality storytelling, memorable characters, and emotionally driven narratives.
