Amidst a whirlwind of intense shooters and action-heavy titles at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase, Vivarium stood out as a charming, peaceful reprieve. While the project was first announced back in 2023, the latest gameplay footage provides a welcome, long-awaited glimpse into its enchanting world.
A collaborative effort between Studio Meadowflower and Serenity Forge, the narrative unfolds within a miniature terrarium tucked away in the sun-drenched room of a rural American home. Beneath its glass exterior lies a vibrant, bustling community waiting to be explored.

Players step into the shoes of Jenny, an 11-year-old girl navigating the boundless possibilities of an endless summer. With an art style reminiscent of classic Studio Ghibli films, the game invites you to immerse yourself in a whimsical atmosphere. Gameplay involves interacting with eccentric, often anthropomorphic townsfolk, mastering culinary recipes, cultivating lush gardens, curating sticker collections, and personalizing your living space—all while uncovering the profound secrets hidden within your tiny, glass-walled universe.
Vivarium captures a sense of wonder that feels both intimate and expansive. The title is currently slated for a 2027 launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
