New Deus Ex Canceled? Leak Says Eidos‑Montréal’s Stealth Project Shut Down

Deus Ex fans have long been waiting for a new installment. Recently, Deus Ex: Remastered was unveiled with a planned 2026 release, while rumors suggested a full new entry was in development.

However, leaked documents from former Eidos‑Montréal employees indicate a stealth‑oriented game had been in production but was quietly canceled. The information comes from details found in the résumés of a former lead game designer and the studio’s design director.

The designer’s résumé references work on an “older protagonist in a sci‑fi action‑adventure stealth game,” which fans interpreted as evidence of a canceled Deus Ex title. The developer in question was reportedly dismissed during layoffs at Eidos‑Montréal.

After Embracer Group’s acquisition in 2022, the studio underwent internal reorganization. Management allegedly viewed the series as niche and a risky investment, and without project approval the planned full sequel was halted.

Reddit user MikeStrawMedia reported that further job cuts are expected and the situation is worsening. Fans have largely lost hope for a new major release. For now, the only confirmed new material is Deus Ex: Remastered.
