Nearly 80% of Fans Want Atelier Karia Heroine to Be Able to Gain Weight

Developer Gust has shared intermediate results from its player survey for Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories, revealing strong community interest in dynamic character body changes. Because eating serves as an important gameplay mechanic, the studio asked fans whether protagonist Karia should become noticeably fuller figured after consuming large amounts of food.

Out of 34,392 responses, 78.6% of participants supported the mechanic. Only 9.9% opposed the feature, while 11.6% remained undecided. Following the survey launch, fans across social media also rallied behind the idea with calls to make her bigger.

When asked how the feature should function, 62.2% of respondents favored having an option to lock in a preferred body shape for Karia. Another 32.1% felt her appearance should shift strictly according to the amount of food she consumes.

The poll also invited players to vote on eight clothing styles. Dark Girly, Gothic Lolita, and Visual kei currently lead the rankings in a close race.

Gust stated that it will incorporate the survey feedback into the final game as well as future promotional materials. The questionnaire remains open until August 23.

Atelier Karia is scheduled to launch in early 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
