Moving on to the Next Update

Greetings everyone, and wishing you a fantastic Friday!
Autumn has firmly settled here in Korea. The air is growing crisper, and the autumn skies are looking vast and crystal clear. Today, I am excited to share the latest behind-the-scenes insights and assets prepared by the inZOI development team.
Lately, our primary focus has zeroed in on two critical pillars: character autonomy and dynamic conversations. As I’ve touched upon previously, our ultimate goal is to make Zois behave with a heightened sense of realism and human-like intuition. Honestly, one of my biggest disappointments regarding the September update was having to hold back the autonomy-editing features we had been heavily investing in. As outlined in our previous communications, we want commercial spaces to function logically—patrons should naturally gravitate toward customer areas, while employees utilize designated staff seating and equipment.
We are currently refining the conversation system using this exact philosophy. Meaningful dialogue is a cornerstone of Zoi autonomy, yet the previous iteration failed to adequately factor in interpersonal relationships or shifting emotional states. Consequently, this occasionally triggered awkward exchanges that felt out of place. Of course, this design choice wasn’t arbitrary; programming dialogue to seamlessly adapt to every conceivable relationship, emotion, and context demands a massive volume of writing. To manage this, many of our past interactions relied on somewhat generalized phrasing. Ultimately, however, we realized this abstract approach alone wasn’t enough to deliver truly authentic interactions.
For our upcoming October mini-update, we are overhauling the backend mechanics so the system intelligently weighs interpersonal dynamics, the emotional nuances of both participants, and the immediate context before selecting dialogue. Naturally, this introduced a new engineering hurdle: the stricter the contextual filters, the more the available dialogue pool shrinks, leading to noticeable repetition. To counteract this, our writing team is actively expanding the sheer variety and overall volume of in-game conversations.
I firmly believe that autonomy is the beating heart that transforms Zois from digital avatars into living, breathing entities. Through these continuous enhancements, we envision Zois that deeply comprehend their environment, seamlessly execute purposeful routines, and ultimately offer you a companion experience that feels remarkably lifelike. The entire inZOI team remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of autonomy.
I hope you enjoy the media materials our team has put together today, and I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing weekend.
