The developers have reviewed player feedback and adjusted several aspects of the game.

This month, developer Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack released Mortal Shell II. The game holds a “mostly positive” review rating on Steam at 74% following more than 14,000 user reviews, though some players pointed out balance issues.

One week later, the creators of Mortal Shell II have rolled out their first major update, titled “The Week 1 Update”, featuring various improvements and new content.

Among the new additions are a new way to reallocate your shell’s attributes, changes to the Glimpses system, as well as new beacons and exploration adjustments designed to make traversal across the world more dynamic. The counterattack system has been reworked, and many bosses and weapon types have been refined alongside extensive fixes and optimizations throughout the entire game.

New items have been added to the game, such as a special stone that allows players to respawn at the entrance of a dungeon, which uses up its durability. Another item lets players reset their shell attributes and recover spent Glimpses.

The developers also announced that they added “new secrets” and items to the game world, introduced new beacons that remain active during daytime, and included an option to unlock additional cosmetics by completing a specific questline.

Counterattacks have been adjusted so that damage now scales based on enemy health, ensuring correct scaling during late-game stages and across different game modes. The developers noted that “counterattack damage” is now calculated and dealt directly by the counterattack itself, eliminating instances where damage was applied twice or not at all.

The full patch notes for Mortal Shell II are available at the following link, though the developers warn that they may contain spoilers.

The game is available on PC as well as the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
