Modder Restores Cut Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer in Mass Effect Legendary Edition

The mod offers the original multiplayer content and a range of features.

BioWare and Electronic Arts brought back the original sci-fi trilogy in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition collection. It did not include the co-op multiplayer from the third game, which some players enjoyed. A BioWare representative later explained that the mode was left out because of limited resources and the difficulty of porting it. The representative also noted that many fans cared only about the single-player game.

Several years later, multiplayer has appeared in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, but BioWare did not make it. A modder who goes by PayDay has released an unofficial version of the game’s multiplayer mode.

This version includes all mission types and 19 maps, such as Firebase Dagger, Ghost, Giant, Reactor, Glacier, White, Condor, Hydra, and London. It also has more than 60 characters (base heroes plus DLC) and four enemy factions: Cerberus, the Geth, the Reapers, and the Collectors, including enemies from DLC.

The mod supports voice chat and leaderboards. It uses the improved textures from ME Legendary Edition where possible.

The mod, called “Mass Effect Legendary Edition Multiplayer (LEMP),” is free to download from Nexus Mods. The modder is currently collecting feedback to adjust the balance.
