Mixtape — a coming-of-age title from the creators of The Artful Escape.

Mixtape, the next narrative-adventure from the team behind The Artful Escape, has been postponed to 2026. The title was first unveiled at the 2024 Xbox Showcase and had originally been expected to launch this year.

In a short post on Bluesky, developer Beethoven & Dinosaur described the game as “almost complete,” indicating the remaining work is largely refinement and polish. The studio did not provide a narrower release window beyond confirming the 2026 target.

The team compared their final work to adding the finishing touches on a carefully crafted prop: Mixtape is essentially done, and the remaining effort is focused on polishing and perfecting the small details. See you in 2026.

Published by Annapurna Interactive, Mixtape is set in the 1990s and follows Stacy Rockford, a teenager with her sights set on becoming a music supervisor in Hollywood. The narrative unfolds through a series of playable vignettes as Stacy and her friends reminisce about pivotal moments in their youth — often presented as heightened, stylized recollections with self-aware narration.

The game’s visuals take inspiration from stop-motion and mixed-media techniques similar to the aesthetic flourishes seen in the Spider-Verse films, while its soundtrack features licensed music from artists such as Guns N’ Roses, DEVO, The Smashing Pumpkins, Roxy Music, Iggy Pop, Joy Division, and others.

We had hands-on time with Mixtape at this year’s Summer Game Fest, and it stood out as one of the event’s more memorable demos — read our full preview here. The title is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
