After the autumn update, Microsoft began marketing every system running Windows 11 as an “AI PC.” With the update installed, any Windows 11 machine is positioned as a full-fledged AI platform.
The headline additions are Copilot Voice and Copilot Vision, available to all users. Copilot Voice functions as a spoken AI assistant capable of handling tasks and carrying on conversations—akin to Siri but with a broader scope. Copilot Vision interprets cursor interactions in apps and browsers, offering help via text, voice, and other channels.
In addition, Copilot Actions has been substantially reworked: it now supports local files, and the assistant is centered on the taskbar for quicker access. Together, these capabilities position Windows 11 as an “AI PC” with Copilot at its control center.
However, the rollout has drawn criticism: many users object to the new branding. Stringent hardware requirements and other limitations make upgrading from Windows 10 challenging, prompting some users to migrate to Linux.
