Massive VAC ban wave hits Counter-Strike 2: Valve bans thousands of cheaters in 24 hours
The ongoing crusade against cheaters in CS2 intensifies.
Maintaining a level playing field in competitive online shooters like Counter-Strike 2 is a constant struggle, as many players still attempt to gain an illicit advantage using specialized scripts and software. Recently, Valve launched a decisive strike against these bad actors.
In late February, tracking services on CS Stats recorded a massive spike in enforcement actions, with over 5,000 bans issued in just 24 hours. The crackdown continued into the following days, resulting in approximately 500 additional accounts being purged from the platform.
These sweeping ban waves are a standard part of Valve’s strategy for Counter-Strike 2. Although false positives occasionally occur, legitimate players who are wrongly flagged usually see their VAC status restored fairly quickly once the error is verified.
