Marvel Comics Announces New Jean Grey Solo Series

Marvel has confirmed that Sadie Sink will portray Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following months of rumors leading up to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Marvel Studios revealed Sink alongside the full mutant roster during the X-Men cast announcement at D23. Building on the on-screen momentum, Marvel Comics announced a solo limited series for the character arriving in late 2026.

Creative Team and Release Details

The five-issue run, titled Jean Grey, pairs writer Jed MacKay with artist Rogê Antônio. MacKay has steered the flagship X-Men title since the 2024 From the Ashes initiative kicked off the post-Krakoa era. Antônio previously drew the 2026 Cyclops miniseries and contributed art to Tom Taylor’s X-Men Red run. Issue #1 lands on November 25, 2026, spinning directly out of the events in Marvel’s DNX storyline.

Jean Grey’s Return to Earth

The telepath recently concluded another solo run. Writer Stephanie Phillips penned 15 issues of Phoenix, which launched alongside the From the Ashes relaunch. That title sent Jean across deep space and reintroduced her sister, Sara Grey, who features prominently in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Jean made her formal journey back to Earth in X-Men Annual #1.

MacKay discussed the timing of the project in an interview with AIPT.

“Post-DNX, we’re going to see the X-Men in a position to need Jean Grey — and Jean Grey in a position to need the X-Men. Dovetailing that into this moment being one where Jean is in the public consciousness more than she has previously just worked.”

Marital Tensions and Core Dynamics

The narrative will focus heavily on the relationship between Jean Grey and Scott Summers. Married for years, the two heroes have spent significant time apart due to Jean’s interstellar missions.

“We’re going to see the differences in her philosophy and Scott’s. Scott builds fortresses, because that’s who he is, but Jean builds bridges, because that’s who she is.”

Alongside the limited series, Jean will become a regular presence in MacKay’s primary X-Men book, serving with Cyclops as he leads the team.
