The second season of “The Apothecary Diaries” also secured top honors in the Best Drama and Best Narrative categories.
Maomao, the clever protagonist of the hit series “The Apothecary Diaries,” has been officially crowned the Best Heroine of 2025 according to the results of the Anime Awards viewer poll. This category saw high engagement, with over 24,000 fans casting their votes.
The sharp-witted apothecary triumphed over strong competition, including Kaoruko Waguri from “The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity” and Yor Forger from “Spy x Family.”
The second season’s success extended into multiple other categories. Loulan was recognized as the Best Supporting Female Character, while the vibrant track “Hyakka Ryoran,” performed by Lilas Ikuta, earned the title of Best Opening Theme.
In the highly anticipated “Anime of the Year” category, the series finished in a respectable third place. Its narrative quality was further cemented with wins for both Best Drama and Best Plot.
Fans have even more to look forward to as the franchise continues to grow. The third season of “The Apothecary Diaries” will be released as a split-cour: the first half is set for October 2026, while the second part will debut in April 2027.
Furthermore, a feature-length anime film is scheduled to premiere in Japan in December 2026. Global audiences can expect an international theatrical release in early 2027.
A live-action film adaptation is also currently in production. While specific plot details remain confidential, it has been confirmed that the lead roles of Maomao and Jinshi will be portrayed by Mana Ashida and Kota Nomura, respectively.
