Magic: The Gathering Announces KPop Demon Hunters Secret Lair Drop

Not long after Hasbro inked a partnership with Netflix last year to license KPop Demon Hunters toys and other merchandise, the company’s CEO Chris Cocks confirmed that a Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair product was in development as well. Now, nearly a year later, we finally have an inkling as to exactly when it will be released.

On Tuesday, the official Secret Lair X and Bluesky accounts shared a teaser for a Superdrop called Corn Maze arriving on Oct. 12. At a glance, the four teaser images included seem to depict a vast corn maze at night littered with random objects, which makes it feel like a Halloween-themed release. There are some decipherable clues mixed in, but the big spoilers are hiding in plain sight with the copyright and trademark notices at the bottom which name Marvel, KPop Demon Hunters, and Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. That certainly means we are getting at least one Drop for each of these properties.

“I think Magic has proven that it can fit a large number of IPs,” Cocks said during Hasbro’s Q3 2025 earnings call. “One of the best-selling Secret Lair products of all time was SpongeBob SquarePants. And if we can figure out how to get people jazzed up about SpongeBob SquarePants collectible cards, I’m pretty sure we can do it with one of the biggest movies of all time.”

What the new Secret Lair clues indicate

Among the clues tucked away in the teaser images, there is a magpie wearing a traditional Korean gat. That is unmistakably Sussie, the demon bird often seen with the large tiger Derpy in KPop Demon Hunters. While Sussie and Derpy were originally companions and messengers that served Jinu of the Saja Boys, by the end of the movie they have essentially fallen under Rumi’s care. In the movie’s final scene, Rumi leaves the bathhouse with Mira and Zoey and greets some excited fans. Sussie flies by and then lands on Derpy’s head as he watches from a nearby rooftop.

We do not know anything about the Corn Maze Superdrop other than the three properties included and the reveal date of Oct. 12, which is presumably when the Superdrop goes on sale. Marvel is no surprise, since there is the ongoing Magic collaboration that has included 2025’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and June’s Marvel Super Heroes, but whatever Drops are included will likely be horror-themed in some capacity.

While the legal disclaimer mentions the Jim Henson Company, it does so in the same section as Labyrinth Enterprises, the rights-holding entity associated with the 1986 film Labyrinth. The clock within the maze is likely meant to reference how Sarah is given 13 hours to rescue Toby in the movie, and the hand we see in one image is no doubt the hand of David Bowie’s Goblin King, Jareth, holding his mystical crystal balls.

October is historically a big time of year for massive Secret Lair releases. The October 2022 Superdrop included 11 distinct Drops, so it is possible that Marvel, KPop Demon Hunters, and Labyrinth could get three each. One thing is for sure: Huntr/x and the Saja Boys each need their own Drop, and we sincerely hope at least some of them will be mechanically unique cards.
