Analysts Estimate Gears of War: E-Day Sold 120,000 Copies on Steam

It is important to keep in mind that the game will be available in Game Pass.

According to estimates from analytical firm Alinea Analytics, pre-orders for Gears of War: E-Day may have reached roughly 120,000 copies by the end of September, generating over $7 million for Microsoft.

For comparison, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 approached its release with roughly 450,000 pre-ordered copies on Steam. Gears of War: E-Day also trails Wardogs, which had about 567,000 sold copies and roughly triple the revenue at a comparable stage. At the same time, E-Day is already outpacing Steam sales for Halo: Campaign Evolved by more than double at a similar point in time.

It is important to note that these figures are estimates from Alinea Analytics rather than official statistics from Microsoft or Valve. Furthermore, Steam metrics do not reflect sales on Xbox or on PC through the Microsoft Store, and Gears of War: E-Day will be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one.

Gears of War: E-Day will launch on October 6. Players who pre-ordered the collector’s and extended editions will be able to start playing the campaign as early as October 1.
