The company now has different priorities.

Sony has confirmed that neither the company itself nor its subsidiaries and partners plan to showcase new products at CES 2027 in January of next year. Sony’s multi-year tradition of participating in one of the largest consumer electronics exhibitions will be interrupted.

We constantly and strategically evaluate our approach to events and communications, taking into account the needs and priorities of our various business areas.

The company noted that it is now paying more attention to entertainment content, including games, anime, movies, and music, its own intellectual property, and technologies for content creators. Japanese publication Nikkei was the first to report on Sony’s withdrawal from CES.

At the same time, Sony no longer had its own booth at CES 2026. The only presence at the exhibition was the prototype of the Afeela electric vehicle developed by the Sony Honda Mobility joint venture. Several months later, Sony and Honda abandoned the electric vehicle project and stated their intention to review the future direction of their joint venture.

The departure from CES fits into a broader reduction of Sony’s presence in certain consumer electronics segments. Specifically, the company effectively transferred management of the Bravia television brand to TCL. Meanwhile, the gaming division remains one of Sony’s key areas, with PlayStation continuing to develop its hardware ecosystem, including monitors, headphones, and speaker systems.
