Lords of the Fallen developers hope mysterious Mojave installation is linked to a FromSoftware game
The head of CI Games also promised updates on Lords of the Fallen 2 in the near future.
Ahead of The Game Awards 2025, scheduled for this week, the internet has been abuzz over a strange demonic statue spotted in the Mojave Desert — photographs of which were shared by Geoff Keighley.
Initially, many guessed it was a teaser for Diablo IV or God of War, but those theories were quickly dismissed. Other possibilities named in the rumor mill included Sony’s Saros, Doom, and various other projects. True to form, Devolver Digital couldn’t resist a quip: “We sculpted it from the bones of most of our interns, and the remaining interns drove it out into the desert.”
The conversation drew in Marek Tyminski, founder and CEO of CI Games (the studio behind Lords of the Fallen). He was blunt in saying the statue has nothing to do with Lords of the Fallen 2, while admitting he’d love it if FromSoftware were behind it.
Flattered that so many assume it’s us. I can confirm: it’s not our work, and we’re just as excited. The whole team is hoping it’s something from From. We have immense respect for them and dream of reaching their caliber one day.
