The Lord of the Rings returns to physical media this fall, offering fans a new way to bring Middle-earth home as the franchise prepares for its next chapter.

Amazon MGM Studios and Alliance Home Entertainment announced that the first two seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will receive individual DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD releases in November. These sets include behind-the-scenes bonus content, and collectors will have another option later in the year.

Both seasons launch in December as Amazon-exclusive 4K Ultra HD gift sets featuring Steelbook packaging and collectible art cards. This timing coincides with the third season of The Rings of Power, which arrives on Prime Video just days after the standard physical editions hit shelves.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1 debuted on Prime Video in September 2022. Season 2 followed in August 2024. The series has become one of the streaming service’s biggest shows, drawing more than 185 million viewers worldwide to date.

What’s in store for The Rings of Power Season 3?

Season 3 follows Middle-earth as it heads deeper into its war against Sauron. The Dark Lord recruits men who eventually become the Nazgûl, but he has not yet forged the One Ring, leaving plenty of major Tolkien mythology left to explore.

One storyline involves Elrond and his long-lost twin brother, Elros. Robert Aramayo, who plays Elrond, also portrays Elros in a flashback showing the moment the brothers choose different paths. Elrond embraces immortality, while Elros chooses mortality and becomes the founder of Númenor.

That decision impacts Elrond when he travels to Númenor in the present day and confronts the kingdom his brother built during his mortal life. The series also introduces Rivendell, adding another major piece of Tolkien’s world to the show.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres on Prime Video on Nov. 11, with remaining episodes rolling out through Nov. 25. Seasons 1 and 2 become available on disc on Nov. 3, and the Amazon 4K Steelbook arrives on Dec. 1.
