Live-Action Film to Be Made from “The Pharmacist’s Monologue”

The “Pharmacist’s Monologue” franchise is steadily expanding.

Live-action adaptations of anime and manga are enjoying a surge in popularity, and “Pharmacist’s Monologue” is the latest to join the trend. Mana Ashida — who appeared as a child in Pacific Rim and more recently voiced the lead in Mamoru Hosoda’s “Scarlet” — has been cast as the film’s protagonist, Maomao. Kota Nomura, recognized for his role in the series “This Porcelain Doll Fell in Love,” will portray Renshi.

Beyond the principal cast, key details such as the production studio and the film’s release date have not yet been announced. What is known is that the project is actively in development and will represent the franchise’s first full-length cinematic adaptation.

TOHO Animation previously revealed the release plan for the series’ third season: the first cour is scheduled for October 2026, with the second slated for April 2027. In addition, a feature-length anime based on the franchise is set to premiere in Japan in December 2026, with an international release expected in early 2027.
