Lionsgate will theatrically release “John Rambo,” a prequel that delves into the early life of the legendary mercenary originally portrayed by Sylvester Stallone.
Noah Centineo — known for To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Black Adam — will star, with the story following a young John Rambo during the Vietnam War.
The film will be directed by Jalmari Helander (Big Game). The screenplay was written by Black Adam writers Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Production is scheduled to take place in Thailand in 2026; an exact release date has not yet been announced.
Lionsgate has also acquired the rights to The Expendables franchise, which launched in 2010.
