Life Is Strange Creator Praises Amazon’s Upcoming TV Adaptation
Filming has wrapped on Amazon’s upcoming Life is Strange adaptation, and the show has now received a strong endorsement from the staff of the original game. Michel Koch, co-creator and director of the 2015 game, recently visited the set. He had only glowing things to say about the new take on the story.
“This month, I experienced one of the most surreal weeks of my life,” Koch wrote in a post on Instagram. “Being on the set of the #lifeisstrange show with my close friends Jean-Luc [Cano] and Luc [Baghadoust], surrounded by such an amazing bunch of people was a highlight of my career.” He added that he couldn’t be prouder of what the show’s team has put together.
Koch also singled out Tatum Grace Hopkins and Maisy Stella, who play Max and Chloe. His post includes a shot of the pair with him, and it is one of the best looks yet at the characters in live action. The picture appears to have been taken in the show’s version of the Two Whales Diner, one of the game’s many iconic locations. You can see the original on Koch’s Instagram post.
Is Don’t Nod involved in the Life is Strange TV show?

The visit by Koch, Cano and Baghadoust stands out for one reason. Don’t Nod created the series and developed the original game, but it does not own the series. After the studio released Life is Strange 2, the series was handed over to Deck Nine, while Don’t Nod moved on to its own projects. As a result, Square Enix is a producer on the series, and Don’t Nod has no official involvement.
Still, the TV show’s team seems to have wanted the original creators included in some way, even if only through a set visit. The gesture will likely go a long way with fans. It shows respect for how much these characters mean to both their creators and their audience.
The Life Is Strange TV series will stream on Amazon Prime. It does not yet have a release date.
